On a very early Saturday morning. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time with my "Work Dad". Who enjoys photography and all that it has to offer. So before the sun came up. And before I could shake off my fuzzy red wine from the night before we headed out to parts unknown to capture "the perfect shot".
This picture is taken at one of my favorite spots at the very end of my road. No matter what time of year it is there is always a photographic moment waiting to be had. On this particular morning the Lobster Men were getting ready to go out. A Maine tradition that I fear someday will no longer exist. It takes a special kind of Mainer to make a living doing this. But I'm happy that they do. In the words of my
sister Lobster....NOM...NOM...NOM.
This picture is my attempt to get all Ansel Adams in a Pinah [what I call Maine Folk] sort of way. As I was snapping this shot Work Dad said....point the camera towards that tree and capture the shadow effect. To which I replied, I KNOW!!! I totally tried to capture that!
Out of all the photos I took on this day, this one if my absolute favorite. I love the zig-zag of the marsh and the pink and gold light in the background. This, to me, embodies where I live. You can almost smell the mud flats. You can here the ducks whistle over your head. The freezing cold January Maine air hitting your face. It could almost be summer time in this photo.
At the time this picture was taken I was possessed. I was almost certain that I would never find enough time for the rest of my existence. The Sun WAS COMING UP!! We're running out of perfect light!!! Quick I need a brown paper bag to breath into! Drive faster Work Dad!!! Time is of the essence!
Another attempt at becoming the next Ansel Adams.
And lastly I took this photo off Captain Simions Pier. If you look far out into the distance beyond the Fort Foster Pier. That is where my
OutLaws will pass on their return home. But not on this day....Brrrrrrrrr.
