The Planter Project

this past spring i started a planter project from a blog i read
"life on the balcony"
my approach was slightly more ambitious
go big
or go
home.
i gathered my pallets
sanded them all down
and painted them blue.

then i came the hard part. filling them with dirt.
this process takes a ton of patience
which if you read yesterdays post you will know that i have none.
i originally wanted white and red flowers but they had no whites so i
ended up with red and pink with "some white".

you can see how messy this was. and i was really disappointed because i thought they looked kinda nasty.

once they were filled i started planting the rest of the annuals around them.

here is what it looked like once everything was in the ground

this is around early june with my pepper plants and "the dude-man"

here we are around the end of june the tree that sits in the middle is
a rhododendron you can see what a mess it makes once it has flowered.
and a nice fat weed to the right!

below
this is what it looks like in october [try to ignore the leaves i haven't cleaned that up yet]
everything just exploded and still looks great coming into the fall
season

all in all
i really love the way these look
just remember
if you want to do this
it takes some
serious
patience!

an ounce of pretentious is worth a pound of manure.
