Free Form Friday: Mixed Messages

The other day as I was preparing to go to work, I heard something on the news that infuriated me. There are a group of parents irate with some model for photos that "send the wrong message" to young girls. Before I go into my little rant I need to say this.

I don't believe that young girls or boys should be so self conscious during their "tween years" when they should be out riding bikes [do kids play outside anymore]. It pains me to see kids "dieting"

But isn't our country on an "Eat Right" bandwagon right now? One school has gone so far as to install cameras in a cafeteria so that parents can watch what their kids are eating. Are you kidding me? What kind of control freaks do we have out there? I must say that if it were me eating in front of that camera I would have waved the giant snickers bar in front of it going HA HA HA!

I'm not OK with any institution dictating to me what I as an adult should eat and not allowing me to make a conscious decision for myself. I understand that there are folks out there who have some challenges. But I don't need to change my actions in order to help the few that do. If I had a large enough podium I could spout out ridiculous arguments and eventually end up sitting on the Today Show in an effort to help the country understand, that if you eat to many fruits you might poop your pants. We all know that right?

Over the course of my life it is no longer OK to eat eggs, red meat, salt, dairy, potato's, white flour, soda, salad dressing [unless made from vinegar and oil] monounsaturated fats or is it poly?, butter, whole milk, corn syrup and a litany of other things that forayed onto the black list.

But it is OK to eat, egg whites, tofu, mrs. dash, pureed cauliflower, wheat flour, water, i can't believe its not butter, soy milk and splenda. Are you [insert GIANT F-BOMB] kidding me? You go off and live your soy infested feaux mashed potato's life and leave me alone. In fact I'll take an extra helping of sour cream [but please make it low fat].

Are we so disillusioned to the fact that moderation is the key to EVERYTHING! The quote exist in the universe telling us that "To much of a good thing is a bad thing." Pretty soon we'll have speakers hooked up on every corner, bus stop & home telling us what to do, how to function, how to dress and bottoms up America!!! Drink your Metamucil for proper colon function!! We cry when we see the farmer go out of business. WE PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS!! Last time I checked a chicken still shot an egg out of its back end not a carton of egg whites. If you want to make smarter choices then don't cram processed garbage into your gullet.

Here's a thought folks - why not go for a nice walk, go dancing, do some jumping jacks DO SOMETHING!! Food is not the enemy and sometimes - SOMETIMES! Its pretty darn tasty to chomp down on a quarter pounder with cheese and french fries. How can we expect young kids to have high self esteem if their older generation doesn't have self worth? Suck it up peoples. If you hate the way you look then I'm sorry, I'm sorry that everyday is a constant battle of self esteem for you. But your government, news media, media in general shouldn't be involved with your inability to make smart or dumb food choices. And if we want to tie it all back into health care.....I hate to tell you but we are ALL going to die one day. I'm fairly certain that my Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandparents had no concern what so ever about the debt they were going to leave behind. In the years of 1944 - 1945 the taxes on wages earned was at 94%. It sickens me when I  hear how taxing this disease is on our healthcare. Maybe we should stop pouring billions of dollars into Research and we can all die at a younger age. Today with all the freeloading in this country the taxes are at a "mere" 37.9%. Back off - leave me alone. In fact leave us all alone. Go secede from the union. Create your own Zen of Democracy. I'm happy with the one I have now thank YOU very much.

It just grinds my gears......

an ounce of pretentious is worth a pound of manure.
