I had the most amazing opportunity to see Roger Waters perform The Wall. I will try to recapture this event based on my horrible phone photos that I took. I've seen a ton of shows over the years and I have to say without a doubt, hands down best show I've ever seen. If you can get tickets I would strongly recommend you buy them. This is a once in a lifetime show and I feel lucky that I was able to see this live.
In The Flesh?
Opening the show more broadwayesqe than ROCK CONCERT - Roger Waters spoke directly to the crowd. Dressed in gear taken directly from the movie itself. It sent shivers down me spine. At the end of this song there was a massive - extrordianary fireworks display representing bombs exploding. Like I have never seen before at a show. From the back right side of the stage a plane came screeching down and exploded inot the wall in a ball of flame. It was awesome.
The Thin Ice
Gave us an entry way into how relevant this album is today. With names and images of people all around the world who have sacraficed on such an epic scale.
Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 1
Was a massive flash of words images and photos of people. At this point in the show you start to feel slighthly overwhelmed. Reminded of small you really are and collectively the impact on it all is way more than you can get your head around. But you're still jamming out because you have a slightly euphoric feeling just hearing and seeing it all. [no chemistry was involved at this show folks]
The Happiest Days of Our Lives - tranistions into Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2. Things start to lighten up a bit as this massive dude from the movie comes out of the sky.
Now you start thinking "right-on" The music is blaring you're jamming out and laughing at the two 14 year olds with their dads [who NEVER stopped screaming tid bits of information to their sons] just completely overwhelmed and in awe. And then to make it even a little lighter an entire group of kids come out on stage [ which I was totally jealous!!!! ] and had the amazing good fortune to share the stage with Roger Waters himself. Who by the way appeared to be totally enjoying himself.
Next is Mother - Which I have no photos because I was sucked in to watching. One of my favorite songs and I screamed it out as loud as I could. He played a black and white clip from his 1980 tour of the wall. It gave me goose bumps.
I must add that during the entire process there is a wall being built on the stage. The images keep getting larger and larger.
Goodbye Blue Sky - Images from the movie are playing - when the planes are coming over and they drop the hammers out. Except they changed it and added government figures, oil companies, money symbols, manufacturers all from today.
Empty Spaces / Young Lust
They showed a lot of naked women during this part which was especially funny to the tiny little boys behind us. I think they left there changed men for sure!!
